Kramer Introduces the SP-12HD Format Converter with Proc Amp Controls and Built-in Time Base Corrector

Broadcast Quality Processor for Analog and SD/HD-SDI Signals

Hampton, NJ – January 26, 2011 – Kramer Electronics introduces the SP-12HD broadcast quality format converter with ProcAmp controls and built-in time base corrector for composite video, s-Video (Y/C), component video (YUV, Y//R-Y/B-Y), SDI and HD-SDI video signals.  The SP-12HD is ideal for video broadcasting applications, editing studios, post-production use, and presentation applications, which require multi-standard/multi-format sources. It is a unique universal single-box solution for many video processing needs.

With the SP-12HD, standard definition composite video, s-Video and component video signals can be converted to SDI signals and vice versa. High definition component video signals can be converted to HD-SDI and vice versa. The SP-12HD utilizes full 10-bit processing for highest possible video quality. The unique “split-screen” function allows the operator to preview the results of ProcAmp adjustments that include video gain, sharpness, brightness, contrast, hue and color. The built-in TBC employs a 5-line super-adaptive 2D comb filter for CVBS decoding to produce superior processing results.

The SP-12HD includes four inputs: one composite video input on a BNC connector, one s-Video input on a 4-pin connector, one component video input on a set of three BNC connectors, and one SDI/HD-SDI input on a BNC connector.

The SP-12HD includes five outputs: one composite video output on a BNC connector, one s-Video output on a 4-pin connector, one component video output on three BNC connectors, and two SDI/HD-SDI outputs on BNC connectors.

The unit automatically identifies the video standard of the selected input and can convert between composite video, s-Video, component video or SDI based PAL-B, PAL-M, PAL-N, NTSC-3.58, NTSC-4.43, SECAM, 480i/60, 480p/60, 576i/50 and 576p/50 standard definition signals and between component or HD-SDI based 720p/50, 720p/60, 1080p/24, 1080p/25, 1080p/30, 1080i/50, 1080i/60, 1080psf/24, 1080psf/25 and 1080psf/30 high definition signals.

The ProcAmp features video gain, brightness, contrast, color, hue and sharpness (independent H and V) control, with a full range of color control features in both the YUV and RGB color spaces.  The ProcAmp screen splitter provides simultaneous display of original video and processed video side-by-side on a single screen as either composite video (for standard definition signals) or component video (for standard or high-definition signals).

The Time Base Corrector in theSP-12HD employs a 5-line super-adaptive 2D comb filter for CVBS decoding, and uses individual H and V chroma-luma delay for the best possible processing results.

The SP-12HD includes 16 non-volatile memory setups, as well the ability to save the setups when power is turned off. The digital video processor operates at full 10-bit digital processing throughout, for the highest possible video quality.

The SP-12HD can be controlled using the front panel buttons in conjunction with the 7-segment display as well as remotely, by RS-232 serial commands transmitted by a touch screen system, PC, or other serial controller.  The unit is housed in a standard 19” 1U rack mount size, with rack “ears” included.

The SP-12HD sells in the United States at a list price of $7495.00 per unit and is currently in stock and available from Kramer Electronics sales companies around the world.  Complete product information can be found at www.kramerus.com.
